Find rest in Him

Life can feel like we are carrying burdens that are wearying us off, slowing us down and making us unproductive in every task we perform. This can be as a result of many life situations, in any area of our lives. That's when we know we need to find help. Matthew 11:28-30 says: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Jesus offers to do an exchange with us, to take the burdens and weights off our backs so that we can find rest. He says His yoke, is easy and the burden is light. What does that mean? It means the life we might've chosen for ourselves, such as careers or jobs, could be bringing grief into our lives, causing us a lot of stress, anxiety and lack of rest. This could be as a result of poor choices, peer pressure or simply the tough life that we find ourselves in, where we have to do what it takes to put food on the table.

However, this could just be that the plan that God has for your life is different from what you chose for yourself. His plans could mean you'll have a lighter weight, one you'll be able to handle without breaking your back, one you'll feel productive and impactful in. Remember God designed us differently, two people can do the same job, but only to find that for one of them, performing the task is easy and enjoyable, whilst the other person struggles and is frustrated in performing the same task. That's a clear indication that the one who has to use 10 times more energy than is required, is not aligned with their strengths. That's a clear sign for change. And change can be introduced gradually, through proper planning and taking bold steps (to ensure less or no disruption). Remember Jeremiah 29:11 where God says He has great plans for our future, plans to give us a future and hope. Thus, when you surrender to His plans, and taking up His yoke, you are sure to gain victory. Amen.
