The battle belongs to the Lord!

I remember at some point, our pastor preached about the message that comes from the book of 2 Chronicles 20:1-25 for a couple of weeks, where I ended up asking God what He was trying to teach me out of this passage. The lesson was profound and I held on to it. This is a story where the armies invaded Judah. A messenger came to king Jehoshaphat that a large army from Edom had come to attack them. Jehoshaphat was frightened and he prayed to the Lord for guidance. He gave an order that the country should fast and they started to pray. In their prayer they were reminding God of the great things God did for them and their ancestors, and that now they were being forced out of the land that God had given them. They asked God to help them.

Then the spirit of God came upon one of them, where the Lord revealed that they must not be discouraged and not be afraid, that they must go out to the battle and the Lord will be with them. The king bowed down, thanking the Lord and they went out to fight. The king ordered musicians to march infront and sing as they went out. When they started to sing, the Lord put the army that had invaded, into panic and they started fighting amongst themselves. When the Judean army arrived, they found their enemies dead where no one escaped. They were amazed and they started looting their supplies (including cattle, clothing and more).

The lessons from the story is that, there could be enemies that want to fight and destroy us, we must not be discouraged or afraid, we need to pray to God, asking Him to help us. God is more than willing to use His power to defeat the enemy on our behalf, for He says the battle belongs to Him. Exodus 14:14 says: "The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” That's exactly what happened with king Jehoshaphat and his army, they trusted God and God fought and gained victory for them. Also we learn that in addition to God fighting for us, He will bless us...
