God still performs miracles, even in the wilderness!

 Deuteronomy 8:1-5

"Be careful to follow every command I am giving you today, so that you may live and increase and may enter and possess the land the Lord promised on oath to your ancestors. Remember how the Lord your God led you all the way in the wilderness these forty years, to humble and test you in order to know what was in your heart, whether or not you would keep his commands. He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord. Your clothes did not wear out and your feet did not swell during these forty years. Know then in your heart that as a man disciplines his son, so the Lord your God disciplines you."

The Lord is reminding us, that life has seasons where in some of them, we may find ourselves in a season of wilderness. Like verse 2 says, that the Lord will allow us to go through the wilderness for some time to humble and test us. To search our hearts. Wilderness can be a very rough place that is not ideal, that is uncomfortable and with conditions that are not our desired or preferred state. However, we have to endure the test. What we need to remember, is that during those trying times in the wilderness, God can still perform miracles for us, like He did when He drowned the Israelites' enemies, provided food for them (that even their ancestors knew nothing about), clothes that never got worn off, feet that never get swollen etc. As we endure the season, may we also remember to recognize and acknowledge the hand and presence of the Lord, with us in that storm.

What's guaranteed is that as the Lord shows His love to us, we can expect Him to discipline us as well (verse 5). Just like we do with our own kids.
