Jesus the good Shepherd

John 10 tells us about Jesus being the good shepherd, that is laying His life for His sheep. Verse 14-18

“I am the good shepherd; I know my sheep and my sheep know me— just as the Father knows me and I know the Father—and I lay down my life for the sheep. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. The reason my Father loves me is that I lay down my life—only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I received from my Father.”

Jesus has laid down His life to protect us, His sheep. He is willing to protect us with His own life and this is evident with Him going to the cross for our sins. What is also profound is the relationship that is described in this passage where Jesus shows that He knows His sheep and His sheep knows His voice and follow Him. This is very important as should the sheep not know the voice of their shepherd, they may be led astray by the enemy. One might ask how can I know His voice? Some of the things that can contribute to that is having an intimate relationship, which will lead to getting used to how communication is like. To understand how God speaks to us. Some of the acts of maintaining this relationship, it's things like reading the bible, praying, worshiping, listening to worship songs etc. Others could include consuming material that speaks about the word of God, such as sermons.

Let us make having a close relationship with God our priority.
