You did not choose Him, but He chose you!

 John 15:15-17

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you. This is my command: Love each other.

Jesus came to show us the way, to reveal the Father to us and yes to be a living sacrifice for us. He taught us everything, to be kind, loving, compassionate, to put our Father's business first, to forgive and more. Through all this, He felt the close bond that He saw us as His friends. That He doesn't see us as mere servants, but friends. Furthermore, He reminds us that we didn't choose Him but He chose us. God chose and called us by name, whilst we were in our mother's womb and He gave us a destiny, an assignment that we would fulfill. This appointment has an expectation of bearing fruits that will last. Even in the book of Genesis, God discharged humanity to go multiply and be fruitful. This is different for each one of us, as His plans and purposes for us are different. Which is why it is important not to envy others, but to discover the special gifts that we have been entrusted with, as those will lead us to being fruitful for the kingdom.

The last command Jesus gives in this verse, is that we must love one another. It is important as the bible tells us that God is love. Therefore, we also need to strive for love, above all else. 1 Corinthians 13:13 says "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
