He will never leave us nor forsake us

 Hebrews 13:5

Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, “Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.”

Two things addressed on this verse. First one, the love of money which we are warned against, but to be content with what we have. There is nothing wrong with money, but the problem comes when the money becomes the center stage, in that case, where is God? If you read the old testament, including the 10 commandments, God is very clear that we shall never have any other god other than Him. Money can be a god, when you start worshipping it, giving it your full attention, living for it and having it being your focus. Everything revolving around it...This leave little or no room for God. Which is why He urges that we shall not have love for it. He already knows we need it, but we should remember that He is our source, we should depend on Him, and not chase after money and forget to serve Him, then we'll be worshipping it.

Secondly, He says He shall never leave us, nor forsake us. It is a wonderful promise, that no matter what, He will be there for us, and He will be there, with us. Circumstances can make us feel like we are forsaken, that nobody cares, but that is not true. Even in our darkest hour, God is there with us. That dark hour could be your training or mentor, which is why He might not pull you out too quick, until He is able to use it for your own benefit. Remember, God had forsaken Jesus on the cross, for the first time, we are told that God turned His face away, and didn't help Jesus, to spare Him from the pain. He did this, so that the purpose can be achieved, so that He may never ever forsake any of His children, you and I included. Therefor, we need to believe that God has got our backs, we can count on Him on anything. The response might not be as swift as we would like, but at the right time, He will come through for us.
