Be sure to be in need of Him, always...

 Matthew 5:3 (NLT)

'God blesses those who are poor and realize their need for Him, for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.

Those who are poor in spirit, whether as a result of persecution, oppression, lack etc. they are in a position to look for help from the Lord, to be saved from whatever might be oppressing them. Unlike those who might've created wealth by themselves, who might feel they are in control and proud of themselves, they are least likely to look for help, as they could think they are in control. However, the bible tells us that those who are poor with less, are actually more blessed than the rich but wicked, who could lose everything at once.

The most important aspect is the posture of your heart. Do you recognize God in your life as the one who is your Source, your provider, healer, protector and promoter? Because if you do, it doesn't matter whether you are still in Egypt, in the wilderness or already in the promised land, God will be your centre. You'll be sensitive to His presence and the role He plays in your life. In this case, it will be difficult (as Paul said), to boast about your abilities as you'll know that it is because of the grace of God. The kingdom of God belongs to those. We all want to be part of God's kingdom, therefore, it is up to us, whether to put Him first or not.
