God doesn't look on the appearance, but the heart.

 1 Samuel 16:7

But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

This is around the story of Prophet Samuel who was instructed by the Lord to anoint the next king of Israel, and had indicated the next king to be one of Jesse's sons. What Jesse did, was to call all his sons who were home upon the request of Samuel, but left out David who was in the field, looking after his flock. However, when Jesse brought them to Samuel to anoint, God said none of them were the one; that he must not look on the physical appearance as humans do, but what matters is the heart. This is when Samuel asked Jesse if he had other sons, and only then he remembered David and when David arrived, God instructed Samuel to anoint him.

This story shows us that sometimes people may overlook us because of our appearances and other things, but we must not be disheartened as the Lord looks at the heart, He has His ways to bring those at the back, those who are constantly overlooked, and bring them to the forefront, and bless them in the midst of those who undermined, belittled and overlooked them. It doesn't matter what humans say, what truly matters, is what God says. Which is why we strive to please God, to be in His will and walk His path. Not to please humans who'll be for you today and turnaround the next day. The Lord is constant, never changing and He is the same, today and forever more. He is faithful and can be depended on. Put your trust in Him!
