The Lord will make you the head, not the tail!!

 Deuteronomy 28:13 (NIV)

The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom.

I heard something powerful today, that as you humble yourself, allowing God first place in your life, He will make you a head not a tail. It's like the opposite of the laws of the natural. That in order for you to be lifted in some sort of position, you have to be forceful, be selfish, put yourself first and at times scheme to get ahead. But with God, it is just the opposite. The moment you realize that God is in control and He guides your path, it is when you humble yourself, be in positions that may seem low, where people lookdown on you, overlook you and opportunities being passed on to others and not you. But this is down-payment with God. When He sees that you are now ready, He pulls you out from the pit. He pulls you from the back of the line straight to the front, and make you a head!. Another version (GNBUK)of this verse says you will be a leader, not a follower.

Let's also pay attention to the last bit of this verse, where it says, IF you follow the commands that God gives you, you will remain the head and not find yourself at the bottom. This is critical. At times God may lift us up, give us great positions and then we become arrogant, act as if we were able to lift ourselves us, and then start ignoring the Lord and His word. When God sees this happening, His favour will move away from you and He will lift someone else and you will go back to the bottom! A nice example is the story of Saul and David in the bible. Saul was the first king of Israel, God favoured Him but things changed, and that's when God anointed David to take over. Saul lost everything, He mainly lost God's favour and things went bad for him.

Let this be a caution, that as God lift you up, remain humble, remain connected to God, getting instructions from Him and remain obedient at all times. When this happens, God will continue favouring you and you will remain that leader and never a tail. Amen!
