Jesus is our source of life!
John 6:35
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to Me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in Me will never be thirsty.
When Jesus spoke these words, this was shortly after He had performed the miracle of feeding the multitudes with just 5 loaves and 2 fish; people were still after more miracles (not fully getting the meaning of these miracles). Hence Jesus was making it clear to them that He is the bread of life. Bread gives life, vitality. Hence, Jesus means that He is our source of being, we need food to live, hence we need Him to live. He is the source of everything. When we have a health issue, He comes through for us- as our Healer. When we have financial issues, He comes through for our needs. This is why we need to recognize Him as such, that whatever we have, comes from Him, He is the orchestrator of all good things in our lives. James 1:17 says: "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows." He sees and understands our needs and then He provides for those needs, in ways we might not even think.
What I've learned is that our jobs are not our source; God is our Source and He blesses us through the jobs we have (which we can see as a resource). Without Him behind the scene, we may even lose those jobs. I once got retrenched and that's when I realized that God is my Source, not the job. The job was gone, but I was still provided for, by His grace. Another example is life itself. God is the source of life and at times we seem to forget this. I once heard a sermon that was saying that, during COVID, people got scared as many people were passing on, hence they thought they were next in line. But remember, God has numbered our days, and He knows our exit story as well. Thus, it doesn't mean that as we see many people passing away then it means suddenly God is no longer in control. God knew each person that passed on that the COVID was going to be the one that facilitates the end of life for them. Therefore, we need to always remember that God is our Source, He is able to take care of us (as His children). Allow Him to lead you as He takes care of you!
