Let your light Shine!!!

 Matthew 5:16

Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

We are called to be the salt and light in the world, to bring honour and glory to God. God shines His light through His people on earth. The will of God is achieved through the people that God has appointed and that He partners with.

What does it mean to let your light shine? I believe it is allowing that which God has blessed you with, to flourish wherever you are, in whichever position you may find yourself in. This could be through the use of your gifts and talents where instead of hiding them, you use them and so excel in that space. God wants that, God wants what He placed in you, to come out, so that you may be a blessing to those around you, in whichever way He has assigned you to. Remember the parable of talents, where a master distributed coins to His servants and expected them to use and was not pleased with the one who hid his (Matthew 25:14-30)? It is the same with God. What He deposited in you, is for a reason, it is not for you to flaunt it to others, show off and have pride about it, but He gave you so that you may be a blessing and bring honour to Him. 

This verse tells us that when we let our light shine, people will see that and glorify God. They will recognize that what you are achieving is not as a result of your own doing (power/might) but it is through the Sprit of God. This will draw more people to God and be saved. That is the ultimate goal! Therefore, do not be shy and hide who you truly are and what you are blessed with, but allow God to display His great works in you, so that He may be glorified!

Let us remember the true meaning of Christmas

We are drawing closer to Christmas and it dawned on me that we have to take a moment and remember the true meaning of Christmas, the reason why we celebrate Christmas. On this day, we remember that the king of kings was born, our Saviour, our redeemer in whom we find ourselves free. Free to have a relationship with our Father, free from sin and death, free from bondage, free from sicknesses. That we are guaranteed an external life after death. This shows that it is indeed a BIG deal. This was the greatest gift that God gave us, one we should be grateful for, for eternity.
