We have the rivers of living water in us...
John 7:38-39
Whoever believes in Me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” By this He meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.
Rivers of living water flows within us! What an honour! Jesus made this statement, that whoever believes in Him, rivers of living water will flow within them. In verse 39, an explanation is given that He was referring to the Holy Spirit that will live within those that believes in Him. He was referring to that which He promised them, that once He is crucified, He'll be buried, but He will rise and ascend back to our Father in Heaven; however, He urged the disciples not to be sad that He was leaving them, that when He leaves, the Holy Spirit will come and will be with them at all times. And that is the rivers of living water He was referring to. Therefore, as children of God, we have received the Holy Spirit that dwells within us, as our Helper. He is there to guide and lead us, comfort us, help us and so much more. He is our companion.
This has extended the relationship with God to be so intimate, that when it is explained, it is no longer the same as in the old testament, where God told His children that He will be with them, but with us, He lives in us! Big difference! Hence the bible verse in 1 John 4:4 says: "You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." He lives in us, which means the power that was able to resurrect Jesus from the dead, lives in us. God speak through us, He fulfills His plans through us, which is why they say we are the light of the world because God shines that light through us! You are not the same, you are a new creation that God will fulfill His will through you. Therefore, take heed of Proverbs 18:21 which says the power of life and death is in your tongue. May your tongue be a blessing, that calls forth life, health victory for His honour and glory. That's what we are called to do and to be!
