Unless the Lord is at the centre of it all, it is a waste!

 Psalm 127:1

Unless the LORD builds a house, the work of the builders is wasted. Unless the LORD protects a city, guarding it with sentries will do no good.

The Lord deserves to be put first in everything! He is the Source. This verse cautions us that whatever we do on our own, in our own strength, without God being the centre, we are wasting our time. An example of a house built without the presence and approval of the Lord, is a waste; those builders would have wasted their time as the sure foundation, which is God Himself, is not securing it. The guards outside a city, an estate, a house etc. if God is not the centre of the security, where we put our hope on the guards instead of on God who will work through the guards, then we are wasting our time, that establishment will not be secured, anything can happen.

God wants to be part and parcel of our daily lives. Whatever we do, we need to invite and acknowledge Him. Do everything unto His glory. This proves that if we do things in our own strength and wisdom, we are bound to hit brick walls which will wear us off; as alluded to in Matthew 11:28-29 that says: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls." In this verse, God already knows that at some point, we will be worn out by the worldly yokes; however, He is merciful and He extends an invitation to us to bring those burdens to Him and take His yoke, which is light and easy. That He will give us rest.

So, would you rather go round and circles and wear yourself off and then go to God for rest, or would you rather start with Him and get the blueprint from Him, which is easy for you and partner with Him in everything you do? I think the latter is easy and ideal for all of us. Let us put Him first and may He lead the way, leveling those mountains for us...
