You will share in His glory (post the suffering)
Matthew 16:24
Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If any of you wants to be My follower, you must give up your own way, take up your cross, and follow Me.
God sent Jesus to earth for a number of reasons; one of them was for Him to be an example to us, a model. To show the way. Now, as the children of the Most High, we are called to follow Him and allow God to use us for His will. The bible tells us that Jesus is the way, truth and the life, in John 14:6. This shows us, that the real way of life, is found in Him. Therefore, in this verse, Jesus tells us what to do, when we want to follow Him. To give up our way and take up our crosses and follow Him. This is not meant literally, but it is figuratively. In other words, we need to give up control to Him, give up thinking that we can do thinks our way, according to our plans but recognize that life was not meant to be that way. We were meant to work in partnership with God, where He leads us in the way we should go. The part about taking up our own crosses, refers to us expecting life to have trials and tribulations, now that we have chosen Christ. Jesus shows us that the world never liked Him, and so we should expect the same thing that we will be ill-treated, spat on, lied upon, overlooked, belittled but that is ok because our reward is in Him.
So, like Jesus, we went through the most for a short time whilst He was here on earth; however, He resurrected and now He is seated in heavenly places, on His throne with God! Now the enemy is His footstool...Ephesians 2:6 says: "And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus,". This shows our co-inclusion on this wonderful end-result, that it may be tough for a season but we are being raised up with Christ...In the benefits and inheritance for Jesus, we are also included in that. I like the message in the book of 1 Peter 5:10 that says: "And the God of all grace, who called you to His eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast." Isn't that beautiful and fulfilling? After the trials you go through, God will restore you, make you strong, firm and steadfast. You will share in His glory...
