Want to bear much fruit, attach yourself to Jesus!
John 15:4-5
Remain in Me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in Me. “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in Me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from Me you can do nothing.
I used to hear this bible verse a lot growing up, though I didn't have a full understanding of what it means. I'm glad to have been exposed to its explanation and revelation. It is however, very important, as it speaks about bearing fruits. If you want to have a fruitful life, it is simple, attach yourself to Jesus; let Him be your Source, your centre and everything will be aligned. This verse basically reflects to us that just like a tree branch, if it is broken off from the entire tree, there is no way it can continue bearing fruit, because it has lost its source of life, which includes the roots that would supply it with nutrients, water etc. On its own, the branch is completely useless. Similarly, with us humans, we need to remain attached to Jesus, to access all our nutrients to allow us to be healthy and bear much fruit. If we disconnect from Him, and find ourselves doing things on our own, we will live a life of gamble. Sometimes we get things right, sometimes we don't. We may have businesses that seem profitable, then recession comes and down the drain they go.
Therefore, let us take this seriously, the example of a tree makes it clearer for us, in practical terms. We are the branches, and branches that are cut off from the tree, are dead. So will we, if we are cut off from our Creator, we are dead, now and forever. That is not the design and desire of God, who loves us so much. He wants us to be fruitful, touch people's lives, make ground-breaking discoveries, change the status quo and bring about hope and joy in people's lives. God wants us to leave legacies for our children and their children and so forth. Let us make a conscious decision to be a vessel of God, allow ourselves to be used by Him, which will lead to much fruit!
