Get to know God better, that's a priority!

 Ephesians 1:17

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better.

The aim is to know God better, to understand who He is, how He operates, what He expects of us, what He says about us, what makes Him happy and angry and so much more. The more we understand Him, the lesser the frustrations because we would understand His standpoint. For example, if we don't understand that God's timing is not our timing, we might think He doesn't exist, He doesn't see or hear us or He doesn't care, as a result of no answer. Of which these are all wrong. The issue could be we want something now, but according to His timing, now is not the right time. Hence, if you don't understand that, you may be frustrated or even lose hope.

One may ask, how do I understand God better? This is simple, but not a quick fix. By reading the bible! It may sound vague, but it is indeed one of the reliable sources. The pages and pages written in the bible, they are there to show us who God is, what He says, what He's like etc. For some of this, it is through the stories, which we can draw knowledge from and inspiration to apply into our own situations. For others, it is direct instructions (read the book of Proverbs). But all in all, you get to understand God better. One thing for sure, which I heard recently which confirmed my experience, is that you can never understand or enjoy reading the bible without the Holy Spirit. He interprets it for us, even to the level of detail of our very own situations. This is where you find revelations about the heart of God and about what God says about your life. The Holy Spirit gives us wisdom to understand the word better and make it easy to digest and apply in our lives. Thus, invite the Holy Spirit to dwell in you, He is already available to you, but your invitation and a warm welcome, is necessary.
