We are urged to love our neighbours...

 1 John 4:11

Dear friends, since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.

The bible shows us how much God loves us, such that He sent His Beloved Son to go to the cross on our behalf. This signifying the great love He has for us. Thus, because of His great love for us, we feel compelled to love Him back. This is where He points us to the two greatest commandments that Jesus gave us, that sum-up the 10 commandments that were written by Moses. This is found in Matthew 22:37-38 that says: "Jesus replied, “‘You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’" Which is why today's verse, we are urged to love one another, as God has loved us. This will be a natural flow, through us; as in our strength, we could not do it.

Romans 13:10 says: "Love does no wrong to others, so love fulfills the requirements of God’s law." This verse emphasizes that when we follow the command from God, to love one another, we will not find ourselves doing wrong to others. The love we will have for others, will fulfill the command from God and allow us to treat each other well. This may be difficult at first, but as we allow the love of Christ in us, we will automatically feel compelled to love others, especially when we remember that God loves and forgives us, we would do the same for others. May the Spirit of God guide and lead you in this area, as you soak in God's love for yourself.
