Read and treasure the word of the Lord in your heart...

 Psalm 119:11

I have hidden Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.

It is so important to know the word of the Lord, on what He expects us to do and what not to do, in order to stay clear and not find ourselves sinning. Sinning against the Lord is serious, and God's wrath is seen when someone or people have sinned against Him, He doesn't take it too kind. In as much as God is king, loving, gracious and merciful, He has His limits and it is crucial for us to know what those are. Similar to us as parents, we love our kids and show them love most of the time, but there are things that are a "no-go area" which serve as a last straw, where failure to comply leads to one being angry. It is the same with the Lord. When you read the bible, particularly the Old Testament, you get to see this very clearly. God does not tolerate certain things, and for those that push past that boundary, have suffered serious consequences. Look at what happened in the days of Noah, God got so fed up with the behaviour of His people that He decided to wipe them off the earth, by just one act. How about Sodom and Gomora, same thing. These things show us that God doesn't take it kindly when people don't obey Him, He acts decisively.

I've recently read the book of Ezekeil 8 and 9, in this case, God was showing how filthy the people of church have turned out to be, doing bad things in His temple. They were serving gods, and this made God so angry. God does not accept worshipping Him and other gods, including ancestors, it is a big fat NO. Read these chapters and they will give you an idea of how such things make God feel. So, stay clear, serve only one God, the one and only living true God and He will be your Saviour. Therefore, make sure you know His word, you know the do's and don'ts. I believe our generation is blessed in a sense that we can read, thus, we won't be able to make an excuse one day to God and say "I didn't know", the knowledge is here, we just need to consume and believe- the word of God that is. So, save yourself, and read the word of God, He will reveal great and mighty things to you too (Jeremiah 33:3).
