Fragile clay jars with treasure
2 Corinthians 4:7-9 (NLT)
We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure. This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from ourselves. We are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair. We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed.
Through the Holy Spirit living in us, we have the light of God shining in and through us, even though we might be fragile, we still have this great treasure in us. This tells the story that weak as we are, we couldn't have such power by ourselves, but it is evident that whatever we are and are able to accomplish, is as a result of the power from God. He orchestrates everything through our lives. We might go through storm after storm, but we are not knocked down forever, we might feel the pressure and discomfort from time to time, but we are not taken out. We still stand as evidence that God fights for us and He has the final say. The enemy might think we are done and dusted with, but God comes and resuscitate us.
God abandoned His Son on the cross, so that He may never abandon us. Psalm 23 reminds us that though we may find ourselves walking in the darkest valley, we shall not fear no evil for He is with us; He keeps us, carries us and secures us. He might hide us at times, for His timing, like a butterfly still in a cocoon but when the time has come, He releases His power through us and the beauty displayed points to Him!
