If God be for us, who can be against us?

Image
Being children of God, doesn't mean things happens easily, in fact, the bible indicates  that God never promised that we would not face trials; however, He promised to be with us through those trials. Romans 8:31 says: " What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?" This gives assurity that no matter what challenge we may face, God is on our side and will secure victory for us.  Every storm, every adversity is an opportunity for God to show off strong, in our situation. It might seem daunting, as though there is no way out, but when the time is right, God intervenes. Exodus 14:14 says: " The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.” This scripture reminds us of what God did for the children of Israel, when they were headed to the promised land and Pharaoh was catching up with them. God performed the most incredible miracle for them, that made it clear that God was with them (Israelites). In the same way Go...

Beauty for ashes

It is truly encouraging to hear the words that the Lord will give us beauty for ashes, what an exchange! The book of Isaiah 61:3 says: "... and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the LORD for the display of his splendor." There comes a time in our lives where God declares, enough is enough. The harsh season that we've endured to come to an end. This bible verse indicates that we may have ashes that have accumulated in our lives as we go through the fiery furnace of life that we might think that our lives are over, and God comes in and exchange our ashes for something beautiful , exchange  our mourning for joy, and give us praise instead of despair. This happens when we've tried everything we can in our power and we feel we are  at our lowest, then He steps into our ...

We love because God first loved us

This is such a beautiful reminder, that we love because we experienced the unconditional love from God our Father. 1 John 4:19 that says that we love because God first loved us. This love is evident in one of the greatest acts that God showed us on how much He loves us. In the book of John 3:16, one of the popular verses that tells us that for God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, that those who believes in Him, will not perish but have an eternal life. When you really look at what happened when Jesus was given up, on the cross, it really shows that God truly loved us, that He will sacrifice His Son whom He loves so much so that we can have a relationship with Him, depend on Him and fellowship with Him. That was truly selfless and we should never forget the price that was paid, for our freedom. All that God asks in return, is just to love Him back, with all of our hearts, all our minds and all of our soul; that is found in Matthew 22:37. This is deemed the ...

Arise and shine!!!

God says: arise and shine, for the glory of the Lord is upon you. This is found in Isaiah 60:1. It is time to dust off the limitations, the anxieties, the fear, the depression, the doubt and leave everything unto Him. Life is made up of different seasons which serve different purposes. Just like with the four seasons in life, where we go through the harsh winter, so do we with our lives. These seasons can feel like we are buried, overlooked, unappreciated but actually it is a season where God grows our strength, our faith, our patience and any other character that is required for the purposes He has for our lives. Instead of seeing it as being "buried", look at it in a different perspective. Similar to a seed that gets "buried" into the ground, it is actually planted, awaiting the process to turn in into which ever plant it is meant to be. Same applies to us, we are planted to endure the process that refines and prepares us for the work God has in store for us. The...

Call to Him too

Today as I was driving from Mpumalanga, in the stormy rain, I was just hanging in there. I persevered, then one moment, it felt as if the car skidding in the puddle of water; I felt as though I was losing control of the car. At that moment, I made a small prayer and I started rebuking the storm, calling for calm. Amazingly, about a kilometer or so, the rain started to subside, clearing already. This reminded me that God has given us the power in our tongue. That we need not have to get shaken by the situations we encounter but to call on Him and call forth that which we require, as He has given us the power. This is just a reminder that our tongues have the power. Proverbs 18:21 says: " The tongue has the power of life and death." Best use it wise, call forth victory, healing, success, advancement, strength, life. Never utter a negative word or a curse. Be a blessing.

Prayer has the power to change things

Dear God Heavenly Father, We would like to acknowledge you and lift your name up high. We recognize Your hand upon us, in every life's situation. We thank you for your unconditional and never-ending love. For you loved us whilst we were still sinners. We thank you for your compassion, kindness and faithfulness towards us. We are, because of you. Thank you for the shield you continue providing for us, the strength you give us, the peace we have even when going through the storm. We thank you for the great plans you have for us, plans to prosper us and give us hope. Thank you for working all things out for our good, taking all our broken areas, our mistakes, our disappointments, our successes and failures, our fears and victories and mending them to make something good, something pleasing.  We ask for your wisdom Father, in every area of our lives, may we be good stewards of every resource you give us; to also be blessings to others. Guide us on the path that is pleasing to you...

Jesus says we must go to Him with our burdens

I am really saddened by the death of school going children that find themselves committing suicide as a result of one challenge or another, which in most cases either involves bullying or peer pressure. Life has it’s own challenges and difficulties, which can be overwhelming when one has no where else to go, no one to talk to. Jesus calls us to Him in the book of Matthew 11:28 that says "Come to me, all you who are  weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." Life was never meant to be faced on our own power and strength, in our human form, we are bound to be worn out and burdened. Therefore, the invitation from Jesus means that we have to take our burdens to Him, place them at His feet. This means, through prayer, place your petitions with Christ and let lose, He will resolve them for you. Philippians 4:6 encourag...

Joy comes in the morning!

Psalm 30:5 weeping may last for the night but joy comes in the morning.  A very popular verse that en ourages us in the difficult time. That there may be storms that we face, but that will not last a lifetime. God will intervene and bring relief, joy is certain when your trust is i n the Lord. The circumstances may tell you it's over, there is no way out but God tells us not to rely on our own understanding but to rely on Him. Proverbs 3:5 says "Trust in the Lordnwith all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know." Remember, God's ways are not our ways, His thoughts are far wilder than ours, hence He's able to do the impossible. Trust in Him...

Being obedient to the Lord

Obedience and faith is pleasing to the Lord. It's not easy to wait on the Lord, as humans we are used to driving our lives, making decisions and running with them. Now when God steps into your life, the control falls with Him, He's the One who directs the footsteps and guide the way;  Psalm 119:105 says "  Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." When God takes control, there's about to be frustration but He keeps guiding us. There are fruits that we reap when we wait on the Lord, Isaiah 40:31 says " but those who wait on the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Wait on the Lord...

Thanksgiving 2021

It is such an honour and a priviledge to acknowledge this season, where we look back on what the year that was and be grateful to God for what He has done for us and to look forward to 2022 and bring our requests that we are trusting Him for. In the book of Phillipians 4: 6 that says " Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." This verse reminds us that we must not worry and that when we come to God with our requests, we need to come with thankful  hearts.  Indeed, 2021 was not easy (very similar to 2020) with the challenges experienced as a result of COVID 19 and adjustments we had to make. Also with many people losing their lives as a result of this virus. We are trusting God to bring healing and comfort to those who lost their loved ones, and we ask Him to be their strength to pull through and move forward. We recognize that with all the hardships, we can still find something we ...

God wants to use the little bit you have for a miracle

Sometimes we can discount what we have, by not realizing the value in it. Challenges of life tend to cloud our judgement and make us blind to the treasure we have. Take the woman in the bible in the book of 2 Kings 4, who lost her husband and creditors came knocking for repayment of her husband's debt. This caused a lot of stress for her, that she ran to Prophet Elisha asking for help. The first question the prophet asked is what do you have? Her answer was nothing, except the little oil. Thus the prophet gave her a strategy that involved her borrowing jars from neighbors, fill them up, then sell the oil. She did as she was told and that's when a miracle happened. The "little bit of oil" kept flowing, she filled a lot of jars until she ran out of jars to fill. That's when the oil stopped flowing. She sold the oil as was instructed by the prophet, and got so much profit that she was able to pay off the debt (and keep her sons), plus some extra cash to live off. Thi...

Matthew 11:28

"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." What an invitation...We carry so much on our shoulders, worrying about all sorts but Jesus has extended an invitation to help us carry the burdens of life. He says He will give us rest, we need to make an exchange where we leave our cares at His feet, and receive rest. The bible encourages us not to be anxious about anything, but with a heart filled with gratitude, present our requests to God- Phillipians 4: 6-7. I pray that your heart finds rest, knowing that God is in control, that He will never leave you nor forsake you.

The story of the caterpillar to butterfly I was truly encouraged when I listened to a sermon where the Pastor was sharing about the caterpillar and butterfly. That God created this to give us hope that as a caterpillar crawls on the ground, looking at butterflies and envying them, that there is hope. When other look at the caterpillar, they couldn’t comprehend that one day, this caterpillar will have the ability to fly. The Pastor emphasized that when the breakthrough is nearer, the darker it gets. Similar to the caterpillar, it’s transformation takes place in a way that it turns from a caterpillar which was somehow mobile (slow, but able to move), to a pupa inside a cocoon which now takes away its mobility, darkest moments ever. But soon thereafter, it gets transformed not into former state, but goes to a higher level where now it has grown wings and can fly. What a powerful transformative process that is. All it takes is patience and belief that when the time is right, things...
We form part of Christ's body Have you ever wondered why as humans we are so different from one another, when it comes to our strengths, our talents, gifts and abilities? I found a profound answer in the book of 1 Corinthians 12:12-27 where the bible makes it clear that we form part of Christ's body. Similar to the human body, that has various body parts that each performs different functions, so are we. God made us different with a special focus and gifting that is meant to enable the entire body of Christ to function well. No body part is more important than the other, but are all equally important in the function they are meant to fulfill. In this way, each body part is meant to perform its function, failure to do so, the body will suffer. This is emphasized in verse 26 that if one body part suffers, the entire body suffers with it too. Thus, it is in   the best interest of all body parts to be aware of the role they play, and perform accordingly. Where there's lack...
