Speak life in everything!

Image
Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. This caution refers to the words we speak; that as children of God, we have been given the power to speak things into existence, especially if we believe (as that's what our faith is based). Thus, we have the power to speak life into situations or to people, or speak death. Of course God as our Creator, wants us to follow what His  kingdom is about- life. Which is why John 10:10 tells us that the enemy came to steal, kill, and destroy; however, Jesus came to give us life more abundantly. Therefore, we are urged to speak things into existence that are positive, praiseworthy, excellent, pure (Philippians 4:8-9). God expects us to speak life into our own lives and into others', even into situations. God doesn't expect us to panic when we see bad things happens, He expects us to use the authority  that He has given us to command life and prosperity. Take this financial crunch f

God is with you in that difficulty...

Isaiah 43:2 When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. What a promise! God knows what we face on a daily basis here on earth and His promise is that He will be with us. No trouble or challenge will sweep us away, drown or overwhelm us. That we may go through a situation that is heated as if it's the fiery furnace, the promise is that we will not be consumed by that fire, we will come out alive and healthy. That we won't even come out smelling of fire. This is confirmed by the story of the three teenagers in the book of Daniel 3, who were thrown into the fiery furnace because they refused to bow down to the king's image. The king thought  they will burn to ashes but what they saw was a miracle, where the boys were not consumed  by fire,  and they saw a fourth  person in the furnace (instead of three). Thus

We are called to lay down our lives for others...

Image
John 15:13 There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. God is love and as our Father, He encourages us to show love to others as He does with us. When we think of the greatest sacrifice it took Him, as a result of His love for us, we have no choice but to be obedient and do as we are told. This verse reminds us that there's no greater love than the one where you sacrifice for another person. This  can be in any way, but where you feel stretched but are willing to do it as compelled by the love you have inside of you. God has just challenged me to reach out to others who are in need, with hands stretched out. Thus, filling their cups as He fills ours, according to Psalm 23:5 that say s: " You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows ." God is reminding us that when He starts overfilling our cups, we must not forget to fill other's too; thus,  being a blessing to others as He comm

Pray all the time!

Image
Ephesians 6:18 Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere. Prayer is important as we connect with God, we come in agreement with His will and plans for our lives and we get to use it as a tool to fight the kingdom of darkness. God may have plans for His people, but in order for those plans to manifest, He needs to partner with someone here on earth, to come in agreement in order for the fulfillment to take place. This is evident in the bible, where for every breakthrough, blessing, or deliverance that God wants to bring on earth, to His children, He identifies someone that will bring it to pass. Things don't just happen magically. For example, in order for the Israelites to get their deliverance, God  identified Moses as that person. In order to bring relief and a solution to the famine in Egypt, God used Joseph to bring it to pass. Therefore, it is the same in our time. God could be looking for

The Holy Spirit will guide us into the truth...

Image
John 16:13 But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on His own; He will speak only what He hears, and He will tell you what is yet to come. The Holy Spirit is indeed our best friend, our guide and helper. From what the Lord says, the Holy Spirit will be telling us that which God our Father has told Him about us and about our future. This means, through the Holy Spirit we get to access information that is for the selected few, those that are in the kingdom of God. This means, the Holy Spirit will prepare us in advance, on what to expect so that when it comes to pass, we are not shocked or overwhelmed but we allow the will of God to take place. What a wonderful Father we have! May we recognize this reality and embrace the Holy Spirit dwelling in us, that it is to our advantage and protection. That through Him, we get to better understand the plans of the Lord about our lives. These may not be in detailed, and we may not know the ti

You are called to show compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience!

Image
Colossians 3:12 Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. As the children of God, we are the ambassadors of Christ, here on earth. This verse reminds us that as the chosen ones of God, we need to display certain traits that will reflect His kingdom, that would make it clear that you are from the kingdom of light. This verse indicates that we need to show compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. These are not traits pulled from the air that God wants us to display, but these are the exact same traits that He has, as per the evidence of Christ whilst He was still on earth, as He came to reveal to us our Father. We can take comfort in knowing that these expectations are not too far off reach, when you remember that you  have the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you, helping, guiding and coaching you every step of the way, thus  helping you to be the best version  of yourself

Nothing can separate us from the love of God!

Image
Romans 8:38 And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love . Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. What a wonderful promise, we are guaranteed that nothing can ever separate us from the love of God. God loves us so much and that reality  is for life! It is worth celebrating! The love of God covers us, strengthens us, prospers us and it sets us free! I've recently heard that God wants us to step out of the box that we have created for ourselves, which limits us and limits His power in our lives. That we should dream big and have a mindset of Christ, that nothing is impossible. Not that we claim that we are super humans, but that we are convinced that God lives in us and through  us; thus, we can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13). May I urge you to do the same, remove the box and be set free. See life with many possi

You are the temple of the Lord!

Image
1 Corinthians 3:16 Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst? If we can keep this knowledge at the forefront of our minds, and remember it every time , we would live and do better. We would take better care of ourselves and ensure we stay healthy and in order. God has indicated to us that the Holy Spirit  lives inside of us, our bodies are His temple! That is not something to be taken lightly. It means, God has entrusted us to host Him in our bodies and when you think of how mighty, majestic, powerful, awesome and great God is, you feel honoured that He would do something like that for us.  Therefore, let us embrace greatness that lives in us, as described in 1 John 4:4 that " You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world." This refers to the Holy Spirit, which means greatness lives in us! That is powerful! Let us acknowledge this wonde

We need His peace...

Image
John 14:27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. This verse is loaded! Jesus says, He leaves us with His peace, one that is not the same as what the world gives. This means, His peace is not temporary , dependent on circumstances if they are good or not, or dependent on people if they like you or not. No, His peace is there even in the storm. Meaning, the storm may be raging in your life with troubles (this and that) but somehow, you still are able to  remain calm, have a laugh and not break down. I have personally experienced this peace when I lost someone very precious to me, and I sort of surprised myself that I didn't breakdown and lose hope, it was painful,  but I saw God lifting me up from that terrible experience. That is the kind of peace that Jesus is talking about. Also, He says we must not let our hearts be troubled and that we must not be afraid. He understands that

There will no longer be any pain, sorrow, death, crying...

Image
Revelations 21:4 "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." It's a beautiful promise that we should all look forward to, where there will no longer be any pain, sorrow, tears, just pure joy and fellowship with our Lord. Understanding that sin came into earth, when our forefathers Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge and that resulted to our punishment that includes death. However,  we praise the Lord for the redemption, for sending His beloved Son to die for us, so that when we die, we will live a life of eternity. At that time, we will no longer feel any pain, be sorrowful, as we there will be a new order of things. I urge you today, if you have not accepted Christ into your life, as your Lord and Saviour, to consider and make time to welcome Him into your life. We are nothing without Him, He is our Creator and when we pass away from this life, He will be wait

Instruction: don't let your hearts be troubled...

Image
John 14:1-3 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in Me.  My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you?  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with Me that you also may be where I am.  Jesus tells us not to be afraid, very important . The bible has many verses that tells us not to be afraid. We need to believe this as God is with us. When you read about the many amazing stories in the bible, you get to realize that those people found themselves in many challenges situations, such as Daniel in a lion's den, the three teenagers- Shadrack, Meshack and Abednego in the fiery furnace , Joseph in a pit/prison and many more. What stands out is that God was with them and that made all the difference. God was able to strengthen and protect them, plus He rewarded them for being afflicted. Thus, we may feel afraid,  but we need to take God'

You will receive power from the Holy Spirit

Image
Acts 1:8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." As we remember the ascension of our Lord Jesus back to heaven, we are reminded of some of the benefits He told us, of Him leaving us on earth. He indicated to His disciples that when He leaves, the Holy Spirit will be sent to us, who will be with us at all times (Act 2). That He will be our Helper, our Guide, our Comforter and so much more. Thus, we are told that when we receive the Holy Spirit, we will receive power which will enable us to tell of what we have witnessed of the power of God in our lives. Thus, creating more disciples, who will follow Jesus. Therefore, let us invite the Holy Spirit into our lives, to dwell in us. That He may make home in our hearts. Through Him, we would have power to be used by God to be His witnesses wherever we are. Let us partner with Him for the honour and glory of

Ask for wisdom!

Image
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. Proverbs 3:13-14 tells us that wisdom is better that silver and gold, which is why we need it. The verse above, encourages us that if we lack wisdom, let us ask for it from our Heavenly Father, who is generous and willing to provide, will give us. We also see this at play with king Solomon, whom God asked what he wants, and he said he wants wisdom (1 King 3:5-14). This very wisdom is the one that made him so successful, famous and rich, that the bible tells us that he was the richest king of Israel and he had it all! This shows that all it takes, is to ask for wisdom through which God will guide you to make right decisions and take fruitful actions.  When you think about it, one may have many degrees from studying, but if they don't have wisdom, that education can be to some degree useless, as it may end up gathering dust and not useful for anyo

God says you are the light of the world!

Image
Matthew 5:14 "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden." This puts a little bit of pressure but when you think about it, as a follower of Jesus, God has chosen you to be the light in this world we live in. The light that He shines in you, He wants you to us it to shine it wherever you may be. The kingdom of God is the kingdom of light. God wants His light to shine through in the entire universe, so that there can be life and prosperity. You do this by being authentic, being yourself  and that's when through the Holy Spirit, God will shine through. Your love for Christ, what you have learnt about how God wants us to live our lives, your experiences which we can term as testimonies (your survival) are the ones that will shine the light in the darkness. Not everyone knows about the Lord and how amazing He is, but you do and that's how they will get to know Him, through you and your works. The last part of this verse refers to the light not

Get to know God better, that's a priority!

Image
Ephesians 1:17 I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. The aim is to know God better, to understand who He is, how  He operates, what He expects of us, what He says about us, what makes Him happy and angry and so much more. The more we understand Him, the lesser the frustrations because we would understand  His standpoint . For example, if we don't understand that God's timing is not our timing, we might think He doesn't exist, He doesn't see or hear us or He doesn't care, as a result of no answer. Of which these are all wrong. The issue could be we want  something now, but according to His timing, now is not the right time. Hence, if you don't understand that, you may be frustrated or even lose hope.  One may ask, how do I understand God better? This is simple, but not a quick fix. By reading the bible! It may sound vague, but it is indeed one o

Aks for the Lord to teach you His will...

Image
Psalm 143:10 Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground. The bible tells us in the book of Proverbs that we may make our own plans, but God establishes  our footsteps. Meaning, we may make our plans, but God's will, will prevail. In this case, this verse becomes important, that we ask God to teach us to know and do His will, in order for us to make plans that are aligned with His will. It will be frustrating and discouraging to invest time and money on something, only for it not to take off, as it doesn't align with the will of God. Therefore, may we at all times, with everything, ask for the will of God so that we can make peace with it and start planning around it. We are blessed in that we now live in the times where the Holy Spirit has been released to dwell in us. We are told that the Holy Spirit  is our Guide, our Helper and our Comforter. He is here to lead us on the right path. I have been recently cautioned by the Lord t

God says be kind, compassionate and forgiving!

Image
Ephesians 4:32 Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. The bible is many things, one of them is an instruction book. God tells us instructions through the bible, this verse as well. We are told to be kind and compassionate to one another, to forgive just as Christ has forgiven us. It is easy to be angry and hold grudges about something that was done to you that you didn't like and  decide to not forgive. But when you are reminded that Christ forgave you and so you should forgive others, you let go immediately. It is by the painful death of Christ that we have earned God's forgiveness, we didn't deserve it, but He loved us that much to do it. Hence, no matter how bad or big the offense is, God says forgive. This also allows you to be free from unforgiveness which can be heavy on its own. They also say, not forgiving a person, is like drinking a poison  and expecting the other person to die. You, forgiving, is for yo

He is faithful, He will forgive your sins and purify you!

Image
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. How wonderful is that! The blood of Jesus has allowed us an opportunity to approach God with our wrongs and  ask for forgiveness . As humans, we may wrong others, or do something that we feel ashamed of. However, God through Jesus Christ, has taken away our shame and clothed us with His grace, as alluded to in the book of Isaiah 61:7 that says: " Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance." The most important aspect , is for us to see our faults, go to the Lord and ask for forgiveness. Not only will He forgive us, but He will purify us as well, from the unrighteousness! Which is why, through Christ, we are holy (not our doing, but Christ's blood). God wants us to have a clear conscious  at all times, which is why He welcomes us with open arms when we go to Him with our f

Avoid the negativity and protect your heart...

Image
Proverbs 4:23  Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it. This is an instruction  for us all, to guard our hearts. Our hearts get  affected easily, as we engage different people, who may offend, hurt or make us feel less than nothing. In this case, we are urged to not let all the noise going on in the world, to get inside us. This doesn't mean you need to stop everyone from talking or saying what they say, it means you may have to avoid that kind of an environment or people, as a form of protection. Thus, keeping the company that builds you, rather than the one that crushes you. Also, you may have to let what is being said, go in on one ear and out on the other. Thus, not taking it to heart, where you internalize  what is being said, but you force yourself to ignore and not come in agreement with what is said. You may also want to use the negative things  said or done and  turn them around for something positive. Use that as a steppingstone  to something

My trust is in Him!

Image
Psalm 56:3 When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. Where do you put your trust, when you are afraid or in times of trouble? The bible tells us to put our trust in our Heavenly  Father. Unlike human beings, who may break our trust and start gossiping about what we told them, or unlike putting our trust in the money or things, that can never save us; we may depend on God as He is faithful. He has our best interest at heart  and He is always wide awake and on guard for our regard. We may not see Him physically, but His love and help is felt the most in trying times and that confirms His existence. Life is full of trials and tribulations, as the bible has already told us. The most important thing  is to know where to find help, where you can put your trust. Psalm 121:1-2 says: " I lift up my eyes to the mountains— where does my help come from?  My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth. " Indeed, my help comes from the Lord (I hope yours too). This verse puts i

Have worries, surrender them to God!

Image
1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. God wants us to bring all our worries to Him, so we may be freed from the burdens. As humans, we worry about all sorts, thinking and overthinking  issues that concerns us until we are robbed off our joy and peace. Which is why God calls on us to bring those issue to Him, to work them out for us. This doesn't mean you pretend that there are no issues, but you surrender them to God to help you find solutions. You do what you can  with those issues and leave the rest to Him. Philippians 4:6 says: " Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Thus, God expects us to bring those things that makes us anxious, to Him by prayer; and give thanks for everything. Let us not let the troubles of life put us into depression, by worrying about everything. Let us run to Him, who has extended His hand to help us. The bible say

Call on Him...

Image
Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ This is the call from God, to just call on Him, any day and any time. He is always waiting to hear from you. This can be a call for help, call for direction, call for healing and also it can be a call to hear what He has in store for you. God desires to have a Father-Child relationship, where we can have a conversation with Him about everything. Where He also wants to whisper great and mighty things to us, reveal stuff to us that we knew nothing about. This could be in relation to the present moment or even future, for you or whomever He needs you to know about, or a revelation  about what's  to come in the future. These are of course the benefits of having that relationship with Him, which is why it is important to build it.  This is why Matthew 6:33 is important that says seek Him and His righteousness ...This means we must have that hunger to learn more about Him, to hear

Gratitude for the past and the future!

Image
Isaiah 25:1 O LORD, I will honor and praise your name, for you are my God. You do such wonderful things! You planned them long ago, and now you have accomplished them. He is worthy to be praised! I heard a say that you may not be where you want to be, but you are definitely not where you used to be. Which is great, as it shows progress in life, and best believe that God is guiding our lives, our footsteps (especially when we allow Him to). By His grace, we survived so many things, some of which we were not even aware of; somehow,  we got some victory, no matter how small they may be, but they are a good sign that He is bringing victory in our lives. In fact, waking up in the morning, is a victory on its own! So many people made plans and still had dreams to achieve and wishes they had for their lives but  could not continue on this journey. Therefore, surviving yet another day is a blessing which we should embrace, as tomorrow is not guaranteed .  Psalm 119:105 says: " Your word

Just one command: love your neighbour as you love yourself!

Image
Galatians 5:14 For the whole law can be summed up in this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” The law refers to the Law of Moses, the 10 commandments that God instructed Moses to write for us. We are told that those commandments can be summed  up in this one law, to Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Two things that stands out from this verse. One, it indicates that you already love yourself, which is applicable to everyone. I know sometimes we may have things, traits, characters that we like the least about ourselves, but that should not stop us from loving ourselves. The moment  you remember that we are created in the image of God (Genesis 1:27) and that God loves us, that is good enough reason to love yourself just as you are. Secondly, this verse shows us that we must love our neighbors. This doesn't  say love some people, or just your family and friends, but it refers to everyone. If God loves everyone, regardless of their behaviour, who are we to hate on any
