Do not be afraid!

Image
Psalm 56:3 But when I am afraid, I will put my trust in You. We have a Father that is dependable, gracious and all so powerful! We can truly trust Him with our lives. The bible tells us that we must not be afraid, when faced with trials and tribulations in life, which are certain that in one way or the other, we will face. However, that does not mean that we must be afraid and discouraged because the Lord is with us (Romans 8:31). All we need to do, is put our trust in Him. This is a form of surrender, that we may not know it all, but He does and we allow Him to take control of the situation. Philippians 4:6-7 says: " do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.  And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." In this case, instead of worrying about your situation, take it to the Lord in prayer, make your requests kn...

Jesus is the King above all the earth!

Image
Zechariah 14:9 And the LORD will be King over all the earth. On that day there will be one LORD—His name alone will be worshiped. This is our worship that we give to God our Creator, who is above all things! People may have many other gods whom they worship, but one day, it will be clear who the true God is. God, is  the  creator of the heaven and earth (Genesis 1:1), and we believe this by faith. Just like He created everything else that we see today by just a word, we believe on what He has done. However, it is not just a hearsay that we know He is God Almighty, but we have experienced Him, we have heard His word which He subsequently fulfilled. This giving us the true evidence that indeed He is alive. Which is why God allows us to find ourselves in difficult situations, so that we may seek Him, get closer to Him and rely on Him. Of which surviving that which was difficult, gives evidence of His presence, His goodness and love towards  us.  With such, we have...

Now that our sins are washed away, we can walk tall & boldly...

Image
John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! I think the emphasis on this verse, is The Lamb who takes away our sins. Indeed,  through Jesus, our sins have been washed away  and we have been made righteous with God through Jesus. It is a big deal, as this means we don't have to live with a guilty conscious , of what we've done (that we are not proud of), but we can live life in full! Furthermore, the bible tells us in Hebrews  4:16 " So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most." This means, we have access to God's mercy and His grace to help us, as He has indeed forgiven us and we are now a new creation. Boldness is in our DNA.  Obviously, the devil will try to tone you done, to make you hang your head in shame, of which this is all wrong and we must safeguard to ensure that we don...

Our King is alive, He sees and hears you...

Image
1 Peter 3:18 Christ suffered for our sins once for all time. He never sinned, but He died for sinners to bring you safely home to God. He suffered physical death, but He was raised to life in the Spirit. The recollection about Jesus, is one of the most powerful  story ever. His life story has impacted humanity so much, we just find ourselves in awe and feeling privileged . Jesus died for us, sinners, in order to bring us safely home, to our Father, how amazing is that! He was born to die for us, in order for us not to perish , but to live an eternal life, in communion with our Father (John 3:16). What is wonderful also, is that in as much they crucified Him and He died, He subsequently rose after three days. This means, our King is alive! We serve a King that is alive and infact through  the Holy Spirit, He lives in us! This gives  us boldness that we are not going through life on our own, but we have the Most High living in us and being there with us even in turbul...

Christ lives in you!

Image
Galatians 2:20 My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. What an honour and privilege , to live in this time, where we have a Saviour who gave up His life for us. This verse reminds us that now Christ lives in us; we are a new creation, as we have surrendered our lives to God Almighty, who is in charge of everything, and also our lives. This actually takes off some pressure from our side, that we have the living God living in us, which means He guides us, He helps us, He gives us an advantage in life- favour! With this, doors that you didn't even knock in, will come looking for you, people will favour you because the Lord has placed it in their hearts to do so. It is not your efforts but it is the favour of God! Also, for the fact that you didn't even deserve this, but God is doing it because He loves you. It is His grace an...

You are the righteousness of God through Christ

Image
2 Corinthians 5:21 For God made Christ, who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through Christ. What an awesome and selfless thing that God did for us, through Christ! Through Jesus, we have been made right with God, we are faultless , righteous and perfect. God made Jesus who knew no sin, to be sin for us. All our sins were crucified on Him, so that we can be made righteous. What a gift this is! We need to soak in this information and  recognize how great this act is. This is simply because God loves us so much, that in order to mend our relationship with Him, He opted to use His one and only Beloved Son, to die a painful death, so that we can be forgiven and have a close relationship with Him as our Father, powerful! I pray that you welcome this wonderful gift, so that it doesn't remain just a gift that doesn't benefit you, but that you   recognize  and welcome it and partake of it. Change your mindset and start se...

Love your enemies, and pray for them too!

Image
Matthew 5:43-44 “You have heard the law that says, ‘Love your neighbor’ and hate your enemy.  But I say, love your enemies! Pray for those who persecute you! We no longer live under law, but under grace (since the resurrection  of Christ). In this verse Jesus is giving us instructions about love. He says we must love our enemies and pray for them. This is as a result that the kingdom of God is not based on paying evil-for-evil, but it is about love (God is love). Therefore, we are not expected to only love our friends and families and those whom we may choose, but we are to love everyone, including those that do you wrong. A very tough one, but through Christ, all things are possible. This is quite in-line with another  command, that is equally difficult, which is forgiveness. We need to realize that we wouldn't be achieve  the instruction above, if we are still angry, bitter and seeking vengeance. God says forgive (for you) and leave everything  in His ha...

Love each other with genuine affection...

Image
Romans 12:10 Love each other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring each other. Such a timely word, as we approach the Valentines day which is known as a day where love is celebrated. This serves as a reminder that as children of God, we must display the characteristics of our Father, and love is one of them. The kingdom of God  is not the kingdom of war and territory, but it is a kingdom of love and  grace. He first loved us with such love that we could never match up to, and our response is simply to receive it. And as we receive it, we find ourselves filled with His love that it is difficult not to show it and share it. It now comes naturally. We also remember that with the Holy Spirit living in us, He helps and guide  us. It is not easy to follow the word of God as expected, but through the power and guidance of the Holy Spirit, it becomes easier to do so.  Therefore, do what the Lord says and love others  with genuine love, taking deligh...

Forgive those who offend and afflict you...

Image
Colossians 3:13 Make allowance for each other’s faults, and forgive anyone who offends you. Remember, the Lord forgave you, so you must forgive others. God wants us to forgive  those who wrong  us, simply because He too, forgave all our sins. God knew that we wouldn't be able to keep up with sinning and slaughtering animals as a sacrifice to ask for forgiveness. Which  is why He sent His one and only beloved Son to die for our sins, so that our relationship with Him (after it was messed up in the garden of Eden) can be fixed. He did this because He love us,  and He wants to have a relationship with Him. Our lives were designed for us to have a close  relationship with Him. Therefore, like Father like Son, hence, we are required to forgive others, no matter how hard it may be. Furthermore, He doesn't ask of us to forget (which is not easy), but He wants us to release the matter from our hearts, so that it doesn't lead to us harboring  bitterness and an...

We are the body of Christ, let us act accordingly...

Image
1 Corinthians 12:25-27 This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each  other. If  one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.  All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it. This is so critical for us to understand. We are part of Christ's body, which means we are all important in our own way. God created us to be unique so that we may complement each other and make the body of Christ  function properly. Just like a human body that  has different parts that complements one another, same with us. We need to acknowledge and embrace that, so that the body can function well, as God has ordained for it to.  Furthermore, God wants us to be there for one another, as when one part in Christ's body suffers, the whole body suffers (just like with the human body), hence we would need to support  one another. Also, when one part is being celebrat...

The Lord never stay angry at His children...

Image
Micah 7:18 Where is another God like you, who pardons the guilt of the remnant, overlooking the sins of His special people? You will not stay angry with Your people forever, because You delight in showing unfailing love. How awesome is our God! God loved us so much that He sent His Son to die for our sins, as a way to reconcile with His people. He indeed overlooks our sins because of the blood of Jesus; we are now His righteousness through Christ. The fact that we can find ourselves at fault, it is such a relief to remember  that He is not angry at us forever , but when we ask for forgiveness He is ready to forgive us. That is an act of unconditional love! It is so important how we see God, as a Father that is loving, merciful and kind; in such a way that when we have done something wrong, we don't beat ourselves up and run away from Him thinking that He is angry at us, but to find ourselves going back to Him to find forgiveness and strength to not sin no more. That...

The Lord never forgets...

Image
Hebrews 6:10 For God is not unjust. He will not forget how hard you have worked for Him and how you have shown your love to Him by caring for other believers, as you still do. This is so beautiful, a reminder that our Father is just and He sees everything and  He never forgets. All the sacrifices, being  obedient, He sees it all and in due season, He you will reap a good harvest (Galatians 6:9). It is encouraging that you may face hardships, being overlooked, where there's  a lack of appreciation, but God acknowledges your part. Afterall , we are called to please the Lord, which is why we should never go by what people say or do. People forget, but God never does. I pray this word gives you encouragement that we are not alone, the Lord is with us and He sees how you love and take care of His own, which according  to Him translates to you loving Him. That counts! Don't allow  the circumstances to take away the good that you have done, trust in the Lord and ...

The Lord doesn't want anyone to be destroyed...

Image
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord isn’t really being slow about His promise, as some people think. No, He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent. The Lord is so gracious, and His mercy cannot be contained. If only we can realize that God is not out there to catch us up, to destroy or punish us. Instead, He is out there giving us chance after chance, only if we see our wrong and repent. With God, the key to this is for us to repent  where we've done wrong (knowingly or unknowingly ). Thus,  recognizing that something was not right, and turning away from it. Like Jesus kept saying in the New Testament when He delivered someone from their wrong or mistake, that "go and sin no more". All is forgiven. However, we also need  to realize that when God shows us our faults and leads us to repent, and we don't,  best believe that He is the Judge and He will judge as He sees fit. Ensure that you don't find yourself on the w...

Where does your help come from?

Image
Psalm 121:2 My help comes from the LORD, who made heaven and earth! How true and powerful this verse is, that reminds and encourages us to remember where our help comes from. In life, we are guaranteed to face setbacks, challenges that can put us off, however, what is more important is knowing where to run to, during that time. We can go to any person, but that does not guarantee that we will find a lasting and good solution.  This verse makes a critical reference that gives us confidence on the Source  of our help. God is not ordinary, but we are  reminded  of His sovereignty, to whom nothing is impossible (Luke 1:37)  as demonstrated by His mighty acts. God knows our hearts and He is able to even put a desires in our hearts that when we pay attention, we find ourselves exactly where we needed to be. And when you trace your steps, you realize that the obstacles  you encountered, actually fueled you to look for better  (Romans 8:28) . I am humble...

A warning against division in the family...

Image
Mark 3:25 (NLT) Similarly, a family splintered by feuding will fall apart. The NIV version of this verse says: " If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand." Which basically  refers to a house or family that is divided due to the fights, it cannot stand. Quarrels  are not part of God's plans for His children, He is the God of peace, which is something   that  He wants us to experience in our homes. He is a God who stands for unity, not division. It is obvious that the one who is happy when  people quarrel  and split, is the devil. The first part of John 10:10 tells us that the enemy came to steal, kill and destroy. In this case, his aim would be to steal the family's peace and joy, destroy the unity and get rid of what was being formed in this family. Which is why we must refrain from quarrelling , but always seek peace, resolution, compromise and forgiveness.  Also, this verse is applicable to any setting, for example in the...
