Angels are surrounding you...

Image
Psalm 91:11  For He will command His angels concerning you  to guard you in all your ways. A wonderful promise from the Lord that He will command His angels, to be in charge of us, to guard and protect us at all times. Protection is a promise from the Lord, because  He cares so much. He did promise never to leave us nor forsake us. God is our protector, our refugee and our hiding place.  2 Kings 6:16 says: " And he answered, “Fear not, for they that are with us are more than they that are with them.” These were the words of prophet Elisha when the servant discovered that the enemy was about to attack them, but Elisha was confident that they would   defeat  them as he knew that they were not alone. He prayed to God to open the servant's eyes to see those angels that were with them, and the servant was amazed by what he saw. This is the same with us, we may not see the angels surrounding us, ready to defeat the enemy at all times, but we must know that...

He prepares the table for you

Image
Psalm 23:5   You prepare a table  before me  in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil;  my cup   overflows. When it is your time, it is your time. No man, no hater, no devil can stop what God does for you. Psalm 23:5 tells us that the Lord will prepare a table for you. This is elevation from the Most High, a statement that He makes about His anointed , that this is my child, in whom I am well pleased. Remember the verse that says touch not my anointed , in Psalm 105:15? When the Lord prepares the table, He is basically saying to the enemy, I told you not to mess with my own! Romans 8 says that when we are in Christ, we share in Christ's suffering, where we'll go through trials and stuff. But what the bible further says, is that  because we suffer with Christ, we will also share in His glory. Therefore, when God blesses you, in front of those that looked down on you, laughed  and gossiped about you, rejoice! The Lord will be givi...

God wants you to prosper in everyway

Image
3 John 2:2 Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. The truth is that, God desires to see His children prosper in everything and in good health. When you think about it, God is unable to fully use us for His will, when we are ill. Strength is vital in continuing  doing good and being a blessing to others. Therefore, He wishes for us to be in good health. Furthermore, He doesn't want only our soul to prosper , well nourished and satisfied, but everything  else in our lives to prosper as well. Having a soul that prospers, with a mind that is unhealthy, not much can be achieved. Doubt and fear might creep in. Self-sabotage can easily take place. Therefore, in as much as we feed our souls with what it needs- the word of God, we also need to take care of our physical bodies, out emotional well being and our mental state. God is the creator of humanity, He knows us inside out. Therefore, anything that is out of order, sho...

Give your worries to Him...

1 Peter 5:7 Give all your worries and cares to God, for He cares about you. God knew that life will never be smooth-sailing all the way, everyday. He knew that there will be turmoil, storms and mountains in front of us, in some seasons of our lives. Which is why He told us in advance that WHEN not if, but when we come across those challenges, and they start worrying us, we should call on Him. We must bring them to Him through prayer. God understands that we might not be able to fight-off everything ourselves, in our own strength, which is why He gave us an invitation to call on Him. Also, it is in a way, strategic that we wouldn't rely on ourselves, for everything, but we would depend on Him. Philippians  4:6-7 also emphasizes this point that we must not be anxious for anything, but through prayer bring our petition to God, with thanksgiving. God wants us to always have a grateful heart, no matter the circumstance. There should be atleast one thing that we...

Our great Shepherd is awesome

Image
Psalm 23:1-2  The  Lord   is my Shepherd ,   I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, H e leads me beside quiet waters... We have a great Shepherd indeed, one that would give up everything for us. Which is why this verse reminds us, or reveals to us that we lack nothing, as we have everything  in Christ. The verse further tells us that He makes us lie down in green pastures and lead us in quiet waters, this gives a picture of rest, complete  rest in Him, where we worry about nothing, everything taken care of. Green pastures gives a a picture of abundance, provision and rest. That is what the Lord wants for us. Quiet waters gives a picture of calm, no turmoil, no stress, no anxiety just complete rest.  Obviously, if you don't have anyone watching over you, taking care of your business and your future, it is understandable that you would lie awake at night , stressed about all sorts of things, possible  break-in, bankruptc...

Tie loyalty and faithfulness around your neck, always!

Image
Proverbs 3:3  Never let go of loyalty and faithfulness. Tie them around your neck; write them on your heart. In the times that we are live in, where corruption and shady dealings are the order of the day, the Lord still calls on us to be loyal and faithful. These are so important, the Lord urges us to tie them around our necks and write them on our hearts This means, wherever we may be, whatever we may be doing, we are expected to continue being loyal and faithful; no matter the deal being big or small, be loyal and stay faithful.  I see this as a test from the Lord, where He would allow temptations to come in different ways, to see if we would be moved by an attractive shady deal. If all else fails, and we don't know what is right and what is wrong, God is just a "phone call" away. He expects us to rely on Him. Remember, He did say that in our weaknesses, He is strong. 2 Corinthians 12:10 says: " That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight  in weaknesses, in insults, ...

Jesus is the gate!

John 10:9-10 I am the gate ; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture.   The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. Jesus tells us that He is the gate. A gate is an entry point, which can either allow people/things to pass through or stop them. This means that for whatever we need, it is through Him that we will  be able to access it. Jesus also told us that we cannot access the Father except through Him. Hence, He needs to be the  center-point  in our lives. We need to make Him the center in our families, health, finances, marriages, careers, businesses and everything else. Victory and fruits are gained through Him. We are nothing without Him! Verse 10 further says, the enemy came to kill, destroy and steal from us. This could be stealing our health, our peace, our joy, our careers or anything that is of value to us. Which is why with God ...

His word is more precious...

Image
Psalm 119:72 (NIV) The law from your mouth is more precious to me  than thousands of pieces of silver and gold. We need to realize the power of the word of God. The bible tells us that through the word, God commanded everything that we see today, into existence  (with exception of humans as He created them through His hands). But everything else, was spoken into existence . How powerful...Furthermore, the bible is the word of the Lord, where those that wrote the bible were inspired by the Holy Spirit, where the Holy Spirit is God, as per the Holy Trinity. When we read the word, we discover many things. We find revelations of who God is, what His thoughts towards us are, His laws, His guidance, comfort, the future and so much more. Through the word, we are equipped on how to face the storms, we get to discover who we truly are and what treasures are hidden in us.  Which is why this verse indicates that the law from God's mouth, is more precious than silver and gold. ...

Our shortcomings shall not stop us

Luke 19:3-6 And he was seeking to see who Jesus was, but on account of the crowd he could not, because he was small in stature.   So he ran on ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him, for He was about to pass that way.   And when Jesus came to the place, He looked up and said to him,  “Zacchaeus, hurry and come down, for I must stay at your house today.”   So he hurried and came down and received him joyfully. This is an account about Zacchaeus, who was a tax collector, who was condemned by the community for his practice. However, when he heard about Jesus passing by, he could not miss an opportunity to get a glimpse of Him and he ended up climbing up the tree where Jesus spotted him and asked to stay at his house that night. It must've been an honoour for him to host Jesus! What we can learn from this, is that Jesus is gracious, kind and could associate with everyone, regardless of their status in the community. His mission was...

Lessons from Hannah

1 Samuel 1:10-11 In her deep anguish Hannah prayed to the  Lord , weeping bitterly.   And she made a vow, saying, “ Lord  Almighty, if you will only look on your servant’s misery and remember me, and not forget your servant but give her a son, then I will give him to the  Lord  for all the days of his life, and no razor will ever be used on his head.” Hannah was distressed with her situation, where she was tormented by the other wife of her husband, as she couldn't have children. She took it to the Lord, cried out to Him about her situation and made a promise that when the Lord blesses her with a child, she would dedicate that child to the Lord. Which the Lord did! There are a few things we can learn from Hannah. In times of distress, take the matter to the Lord, instead of to other people, who might either make the situation worse by blaming you and crucifying you when they don't have the full story of what is happening. Or they m...

Never get tired of doing good

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good,  for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. God expects us to do good and be good. Not to just be good once, but to continuously  be good and to never get tired of it.  Matthew 5:13-14 states that we are the salt and light of the world. Meaning, your  presence makes a difference, it brings an element that is appreciated in any situation. He lives in us and thus, His light shines through us. This means, people will feel and see the goodness of the Lord through us. When you do something good for someone, you allow God to have an encounter with that person, to show them His love through you. This means, when you disregard the inner voice that tells you to do something good for someone, you are denying the person an opportunity to experience  God through you. Maybe  before you say "no", think about this, you could be the vessel that God wants to use at that time, for that person...

He is in control

Isaiah 40:22:24  He sits enthroned above the circle of the earth, and its people are like grasshoppers. He stretches out the heavens like a canopy, and spreads them out like a tent to live in. He brings princes to naught and reduces the rulers of this world to nothing. No sooner are they planted, no sooner are they sown, no sooner do they take root in the ground, than he blows on them and they wither, and a whirlwind sweeps them away like chaff. The Lord is so mighty and powerful, He's the creator of all universe. He's enthroned above the earth and He sees everything. He's in control of everything, even able to bring down kingdoms and reduce the rulers to the lowest level. His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts (Isaiah 55:8-9); all we can do is marvel  at the way He orchestrates  things. He confuses the wise, He makes the weak strong, give power and authority to those who are seen as meek and as nobody (David, Joseph, Moses). He gives honou...

He's doing a new thing...

Isaiah 43:18-19  Forget the former things;  do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!  Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the wilderness  and streams in the wasteland. God is saying forget the former things, do not dwell on the things of the past. Our past could be full of scars, hurt, disappointments , shortfall, discouragement, being belittled, being told we not good enough, useless etc. This is not what God sees of you. God says you are made in His image (Genesis 1:27),  you have His power as the One who lives in you, is greater that the devil in the world (1 John 4:4), God further says you can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens you ( Philippians  4:13). Therefore, forget what the world told you, you are or are not, and believe what God says about you.  This verse tells us that there's a great future ahead. God is busy making a new thing about your life. Just like He was able t...

He is risen!

Matthew 28:5-6 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.   He is not here; He has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. Three days after Jesus was crucified, two women (Mary Magdalene and another Mary) went to the tomb where Jesus was laid and the angel of God appeared to them and confirmed that Jesus has resurrected as He said He would. This was a confirmation of the prophecy and the plan of God, that He will be crucified but He will rise again. Therefore, the King is alive and we have resurrected with Him! Jesus is seated in heavenly places, on God's right-hand side!  This resurrection  with Christ means a lot to us, as it confirms that we no longer need to slaughter animals and plead  for forgiveness where we have wronged, but through Christ, we are forgiven. Furthermore , by the name that is above all names, we believe and declare that the resurrection of Ch...

We are righteousness of God through Christ

Isaiah 53:6  We all, like sheep, have gone astray,  each of us has turned to our own way;  and the  Lord  has laid on Him  the iniquity of us all. The blood of Jesus has washed away all our sins, past, present and future. God's grace has covered us and brought us back to His plans. Whilst we were sinners, lost and living life in our own terms, Jesus died for us. Our sins, were laid on Him, they were crucified on His body, so that we may be righteous with God. This is the very reason that help us realize the price that has been paid. By His grace, we are saved. May we always remember this, so that even when the enemy tries to get us astray, by reminding us of our former lives, our mistakes and weaknesses, that we are forgiven, we have been made righteous by the blood of Jesus- 2 Corinthians 5:21 that says " God made Him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God ." . This truth takes away a huge press...

Receive His Gift

John 14:15-18 (NIV)  “If you love me, keep my commands.   And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever—   the Spirit of truth.  The world cannot accept Him, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him. But you know Him, for He lives with you and will be in you.   I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. These were the words by Jesus to His disciples, giving them comfort  about His departure. They were so used to living with Christ, serving with Him, seeing Him heal people, feeding multitudes, teaching and so much more. He understood that His departure would leave a gap in their lives . Hence, He made them a  promise that when He leaves, He will ask His Father to send them an advocate, a helper, a comforter- the Holy Spirit, to be with them always. As we can imagine, whilst Jesus was living on earth , to access healing for example, people had to be in His presence. Ho...

Peace in the storm

John 16:33   “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” Jesus warned us in advance, that life will have its life challenges, however, we must not be consumed by these troubles. He gave us His peace so that even though there may be trouble all around us, we must still have peace. Peace that is reassuring that it will be ok. That reassures us that regardless of what may be happening, He will be with us in that trouble and bring victory in the end. I'm reminded of the story of Daniel, when he was accused and unfairly thrown into the lion's den. That was some serious trouble, anything could've happened, but God was with him and the lions never touched him. Which is true that God will shut the lion's mouth for us! May the grace of God be with you, no matter the storm you may be facing; remember Jesus was forsaken by His Father on the cross, so that we may neve...

Confess it with your mouth...

Romans 10:9 If you declare  with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,”  and believe  in your heart that God raised Him from the dead,   you will be saved . This is the cornerstone of our faith as Christians, that God sent His Son for us to have life after eternity. One of the most popular verses found in John 3:16 says: " For God so loved  the world that He gave  His one and only Son,  that whoever believes  in Him shall not perish but have eternal life ." In as much as God gave up His Son for all humanity, only those that receive the gift, those that acknowledge and come in agreement with the Lord, will be saved. This means, unless you confess it with your mouth, that Jesus is Lord and He came to save our lives, life in eternity is not secured yet. The gift has not been received yet. God doesn't force Himself on us, He gave us free will; the options. In Deuteronomy 30:19, God gave us an option, to choose life or death, blessings or curses. By choosing Je...

Wait upon the Lord...

Isaiah 30:18  “The LORD longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you compassion. For the LORD is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him! ” Isn't that awesome? The Lord longs to be gracious to you, to show you compassion and be kind to you. God is so full of love that all He wants to do, is to show us how much He cares for us and how much He loves us. Furthermore, we are told that He is a God of justice, should you be done wrong, He is the One who would fight your case and get victory for you. He clearly told us that the vengeance is His, we must not be unkind to those who do us wrong, but He will handle it. Blessed are those who wait for Him...Sometimes things might get heated up that you want  to take matters into your own hands, but God requires us to wait on Him.  Whether  for justice, for a promise to come to pass, for a breakthrough, for healing, for victory, everything, He's got it. We need only to wait on Him. Psalm 40:1...

Fragile clay jars with treasure

2 Corinthians 4:7-9 (NLT) We now have this light shining in our hearts, but we ourselves are like fragile clay jars containing this great treasure.  This makes it clear that our great power is from God, not from  ourselves. We  are pressed on every side by troubles, but we are not crushed. We are perplexed, but not driven to despair.  We are hunted down, but never abandoned by God. We get knocked down, but we are not destroyed. Through the Holy Spirit living in us, we have the light of God shining in and through us, even though we might be fragile, we still have this great treasure in us. This tells the story that weak as we are, we couldn't have such power by ourselves, but it is evident that whatever we are and are able to accomplish, is as a result of the power from God. He orchestrates everything through our lives. We might go through storm after storm, but we are not knocked down forever, we might feel the pressure and discomfort from time to time, but we ...

His obedience exalted Him!

Philippians 2:8-11  And being found in appearance as a man, H e humbled Himself  by becoming obedient to death —  even death on a cross!  Therefore God exalted Him   to the highest place  and gave Him the name that is above every name,  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,  in heaven and on earth and under the earth,  and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord,  to the glory of God the Father. God sent Jesus in a form of a man, in our likeness so that He can identify with what we go through as humans and to show us what is possible. He had the power and authority, we saw how He drove out demons, healed the sick, called forth the dead and more. This demonstrated the power that He had which He was awarded by our Heavenly Father. Therefore, He could have used the same power to save Himself in that hour, however, He humbled Himself to the will of God and allowed Himself to die a painful death, for you and me. Th...

Pray without ceasing.

1 Thessalonians 5:17-18   Pray without ceasing . In every thing give  thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.  God wants to have a relationship with us, more than anything. Like any other relationship, communication is important and it is two-way; where He communicates to us through different means (especially through His word from the bible), whilst we get to respond to Him through prayer. This bible verse encourages us to pray without ceasing, as it is an important aspect in our relationship with our Father. It further  encourages us that in our prayer, let us give thanks because that is the will of God for us. We use prayer as a means to ask about something, to ask for something and most importantly to give thanks. The aspect of showing gratitude is super important to God. It is a moment where we acknowledge His presence, His grace and His power in our lives. The fact that we are still alive, living and breathing is because of His grace...

Be a diligent worker...

2 Timothy 2:15-16  Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.   Avoid godless chatter,  because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. Weather we recognize it or not, but God controls everything. At times we might feel like we are not where we are supposed to be, but God allows everything that happens to us, for a reason. Sometimes He allows us to be an environment that will teach and equip us, in a certain way, sometimes He allows us to be in an environment for divine connections for His glory and at times it is just to give us a lesson. Romans 8:28 reminds us that no matter what we go through, God will take those broken pieces and make something good out of it; ALL things will work together for the good of those that trust Him. This on its own, gives us a sense of peace, that we are accounted for and in some way, whatever that is, it is part of the pl...

Aim to finish His work

John 4:34   “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of Him who sent me and to finish His work. Jesus was having an encounter  with the Samaritan woman, whilst the disciples went to town to get some food. However they were surprised  that He wasn't hungry and asking for food. His answer shows us the level of commitment He had for the work that God commissioned Him to do here on earth. So committed that His only focus was getting the work done, at all cost.  Jesus came to show the way, to reveal the heart of the Father and to die for our sins. Everything He did, was intentional and linked to the tasks He was given. He was able to do so much and achieve so much due to having His priorities straight. When you think about it, the 24 hours that we are all given in a day, depends on us on what we do with it, what takes priority and gets done and what doesn't. Unfortunately distractions and lack of vision tends to cripple us, and lead us to spend the precious 24...

While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 5:8  But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us . Passover is fast approaching and we are reminded of the significance of this time. We get to remember the price that was paid for us, not to just have life, but life more abundantly. God sacrificed His beloved Son so we can be reconciled with Him. I was quite moved to listen to one of the sermon where the differences in religions was unpacked. There are some similarities but what separates Christianity , is that our Father sacrificed His Son for us! He gave up His Son to die for our sin. He bore our shame on His body, our sickness, our weaknesses, our guilt and all other  horrible  traits. He was blameless yet He was crucified for our sin. The explanation  that for the first time, when Jesus was crucified, God turned His back on Him. He let Him be punished for us. God had forsaken His Son so that He may never forsake us. How wonderful is that! Our freedom w...

When God sends you...

Exodus 3:9-10   And now the cry of the Israelites has reached me, and I have seen the way the Egyptians are oppressing them.   So now, go . I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” In this passage, Moses was having an encounter with God, where God drew his attention through the burning bush. Moses then discovered his assignment, that God wanted him to lead His children out of bondage, out of oppression  and lack to a land that is spacious and dripping with honey and milk. This seemed unexpected and way-out of reach for Moses, as he saw himself as an ordinary person, that God was expecting to engage the king and demand their release! After  a debate with God, Moses obeyed God and God reassured him that He will be with him. In the same way, God has assignments for each one of us, big and small. An assignment that is part of His great plan. When God reveals it, it may seem way out of reach (remember Noah and the ark...), but...

Do not withhold good from others

Proverbs 3:27  Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in your power to act. We are commissioned to do good for others, where it is in our power to do so. Being a blessing to others is part of our DNA. Remember, Jesus as our example and model of how we should lead our lives, showed us in many ways this very principle. By being kind, patient, compassionate. Those are some of the characteristics that proved to us how we should treat one another. Jesus washed His disciples' feet because He loved them and even instructed them to do the same for one another (John 13:1-17).  Acts 20:35 says: " In all things  I have shown you that  by working hard in this way we must  help the weak and  remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how He Himself said,  ‘ It is more blessed to give than to receive. ’ ” When you  give, God sees and will reward you. Give with a cheerful heart, not with a motive of receiving something back, but as s...

Say "yes" to the call

Luke 1:36-38  Even Elizabeth your relative is going to have a child in her old age, and she who was said to be unable to conceive is in her sixth month.   For no word from God will ever fail.”   “I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your word to me be fulfilled.” Then the angel left her. Mary (mother of Jesus) was having a conversation with an angel of God, that brought  her news that would change her life forever. News that she was going to carry the Son of God. How amazing and at the same time overwhelming (for a young girl who was still a virgin and engaged to be married). The angel also confirmed another  miracle about her relative Elizabeth who couldn't have children, that she was also pregnant by the grace of God. A twin-miracle indeed!  Even though  this was going to course a stir for Mary and her family (to have fallen pregnant), she said "Yes" to God. She allowed God to use her for His great purpose (we are truly grateful)....

Serve one another!

John 13:14-15   Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet .   I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. This message was shared by Jesus right after He had washed His disciple's feet, closer to His crucifixion . His  disciples  were puzzled  why would Jesus, their  Master and Teacher wash their feet; a task that was reserved for servants. But this was symbolic of serving one another. Even a person of His stature (Jesus), He took the time to clean their feet, to serve them. He did this because He loved them and most importantly, He was teaching them that they must serve one another.  The command that we are given, is that we should love God with all our heart, mind and soul; but secondly to love our neighbor as we love ourselves (Luke 10:27). This emphasizes that we should love one another, be kind to one another and serve one another. Regardless of the position yo...
